Checking out items in Evergreen with a library card

Scenario

A library user comes to you and wants to check out an item. They have a library card with a barcode.

Steps

  1. Click on "Check Out Items".

  2. Use a barcode scanner to scan the user’s barcode. If you don’t have a barcode scanner, you can also type in the barcode and click Submit.

  3. The user may have special considerations that you might need to review, such as penalties, fines, fees, or alerts. These will display in red on your screen. Take a moment to review these.

  4. If you aren’t already on the Check Out tab, click on that tab.

  5. Use a barcode scanner to scan the item’s barcode. If you don’t have a barcode scanner, you can also type in the barcode and click Submit.

  6. If there are any issues with this checkout, they will appear in a checkout. Review these issues and, if necessary, click the Force Action? button.

  7. Evergreen will automatically calculate when the item is due back to the library. This due date, along with other information about the checkout, will appear.

  8. If you’d like to check out further items to this user, repeat steps 3-5.

  9. Click the Done button. This will close the user’s screen. Depending on the user’s preferences, Evergreen will print or email a receipt to them.
